Love and Information
Love and Information is written by Carly Churchill. Love and Information is not your typical play. It is several plays in one big play this is called an episodic play. Each play is different however the plays show show Love or Information in different ways. For example Religion,Relationship, Family and Fighting. Whilst reading the play i like the fact that anyone could play any character. Also we ca decide how the scene goes because their no stage direction, No character.
Rehearsals
In rehearsals, We received our script and read it through as group. Whilst reading the script i found out the the play is spilt into 7 section. I thought that she done that because God create the world in 6 days and rest on the 7th day or the 7 deadly sins which are lust, gluttony, greed,sloth,wrath, envy and Pride. I'm going too research about more about the themes in the play and use it to help me perform the piece.
The scenes that i'm doing Secret with Elena, Servant with Harry, Lab with Ben Taylor and Tia, The child who didn't know pain with Sebstain. This is episodic play so this means that we have to create our scenes.
Research
I was looking on digital theatre whereby I could research about Churchill. Churchill is a British playwright born 1938. Churchill rose to fame in 1970's and 1980 with her plays Top girl and Cloud 9. In Churchill plays she has written about Feminist and Political issues which has caused her a lot of controversial talk. It took Churchill 14 years to make her profession stage debut. I saw Quote that she wrote that i thought was really interesting that she wrote in Twenty century.

| This quote proves that she feels that everything in the word has no meaning and she writes about it in her work. This is very useful for love and information because it implies that we as an actor or director get to play these characters but in different ways. Also this very useful to me because it help me with the production. It shows that anyone could play that character because people may be going through the sane thing as you. So we decide that all the actor should black to show that we are neutral. |
Secret
Me and Elena decide that we are friends at park working out and Elena has a secret and i want to find out however she doesn't want to to tell me.However she tells me the secret which is she had sex with her crush and i'm happy for her. When we performed it to the class the feedback that we revived from others was that some people like the scene however no one understood the secret. Someone in the audience suggest that Me and Elena are in relationship and the secret is that she is pregnant however i'm not the father because I can't have kids. At first we both didn't like the idea however the the audience would understand what's is going on in the scene and it made more sense with the dialogue.
Fate
In this scene, I'm working with Mya. At the start of the rehearsals process it was hard for us to figure what going on in the scene and what to do with the scene. Our scene is about someone trying to find himself and He/She is talking to someone about it and that person is helping them out. Later rehearsals we thought of Mya being a fortune teller and i'm going there to find out about my future because it called fate. Fate is the Future.
When we performed to the class it was scary because we didn't know what was going on the scene which it made it hard for us however we did the scene, the feedback that we received was that under rehearsals and we need to develop our character because on stage it felt like you was watching Mya and Michael.
Servant
Me and Harry was reading through the script and i suggest that this scene should be in a police station whereby i'm interviewing harry character. About what he did. Me and Harry we were trying to figure out what i'm accusing him of which is he murdered his wife.
I did research on police officers for example I watched Luther on Netflix, It's about Detective who's an antihero battling crime whiles causing crime himself however he does it for his loved ones. He is very intimidating and terrifying which is useful for my character. Because the feedback that I got back from other students that I wasn't Intimidating or I wasn't seen as a police officer.
Later on the week, rehearsals I was working on some drama techniques that would help to bring my character to life. For example Stanislavski method. What if ?, Stanislavski 7 steps Who am I? Where am I ? When is it? What do I want ? Why do i want it ? How will I get it ? What do I need to overcome?.
The child who didn't know pain ?
In this scene, I'm working with Sebastian. whilst reading the scene we thought that we should be high, reckless teenagers because the dialogue felt like a teenagers conversation. We are at a park, smoking weed, talking about pain. Sebastian is confused and shocked of what am I talking about. i'm talking about "chewing my fingers".
Whiles performing it to the class the feedback that we received was very positive. Peers has said that our scene is very funny and relatable. However at some parts we could of been louder so that when we are doing our real performance the back could hear us.

ME and Sebstain rehearsing our scene the child who didn't know pain. We were performing to our peers. The Feedback that we revived was that our characterisation was good. We were our character which wreck less teenagers. However at some part we were quite, so we need more energy. Also when we leaving the scene. I should take out the cigarette box and give one Sebstain and tell him we should go. Whilst that happening this give a chance for the actor for next scene to enter the stage. In the beginning of the scene Me and Sebastian are going to have speaker which is going to have music playing Roll the Dice (the clean version) for the younger audience.
Me and Harry are rehearsing our scene The servant. After we will perform to our peers so that they could give us feedback for it. The feedback that we received was that I need to be more intimidating as i'm police officer trying to make Harry be scared confess it felt like Harry would get away. Also I need to up in his face so that I make him feel uncomfortable, shout at him and bang the table. Me and Harry wrote down the props and costumes that we would need for this scene. During this scene I would be bringing on my phone so I could record harry. I would also need some books and clipboard so i could go through as note, Usually in the integration room, police officer have files that they go over so that they could question the suspect or the victim or witness. Usually it their statement or evidences. In this scene I want to wear a Long black coat. So that the audience know that i'm different character because all the scenes that i'm doing i'm going to wear black but I wanted the black clothing to be different for example secret i could wear jumper.

Servant Rehearsals
This is our Set Design. It good to make a set design because it give actor and the production team of what the set would look. We wanted the stage to be neutral because the actors are going to wear black, we want to show that someone may relate to one of the character in the scene. Also we going to have less props on the stage because we want the audience member to focus on the actor not the props on the stage. However a good show needs some production so in fate we going to have a disco ball to give it a different scenery.
We not allowed to sit on the side of the stage because it has UV lights on. which is very dangerous because if it break it can cause a fire. Also UV lights are expensive so if it breaks then it's horrible for the person who broke it. We have bench on the stage to show that we outside in the park, Every park scene is going to have green lights to representing the grass. We going to have a door in the middle of the stage where they're stairs. So that the actor can enter through the door , perform their scene. On the left and right part of the stage are clear room, on the left is a table and 2 chairs and the other side is one chair. We want this to be set so it could easier for actors to move on and off the stage and the production team doesn't need to carry anything on. I wanted the stage to show how the Love and Information could be shown which is talking to someone.
We using white blocks to help so that we know how height of the stage. The theatre was not available at time because others are using it for their performances . So instead we uses white blocks to help us rehearsals. We are going through the whole play and using the white blocks. We going through entrance and exits so that everyone knows when to come in for their scenes and leave the scene. Also we working out what props we would need in the stage.
This is the outline of the stage, We use the outline of stage to help us rehearsals our scene for example to helps know when to enter or exit. We wanted to make the stage different to other stage for the other plays that we did.
Evaluation
During the process I really had fun working with the team. We have worked really hard on this
project and it has shown. My group was excellent to work with each other. We communicate
our ideas with each other and we have took everyone ideas and put the piece together. Also we
have given feedback to each other which is good because it helps us improve our performance.
However I felt that we need to work our attendance. Because people that weren’t here or that was
late effect our rehearsal time because we didn’t have that much rehearsal time. So it would be hard
to rehearsal with someone if they weren’t there. Also we need to work on our energy in rehearsal at
the start of rehearsal for love and information our energy was low. however we did warm ups so that
when we are rehearsal and performing we give it our all.
At the start of rehearsals for this piece, I love that me and Elena got on really well. When we had
the same ideas which were to be at the gym and we having our conversation however we decided
to change it because we felt that a lot could be done with this scene and the gym didn’t fit our the
scene. So we decided to change it to a park because it more open and plus it would be easier for
us to not move the props.
Whilst rehearsal the play, the feedback that we received was that the scene felt very natural because
we followed the Stanislavsky method. Which we both sat down and talking about our character.
However the peers has said that we need to make the secret bigger because the play should start
of with high so that the audience members are entertained.
On performance day, whilst performing it was really good. Before going on to stage Me and Elena
went through our scene one my time and we give each other feedback. Elena told me that I should
keep the same energy. Also I should remember my lines and if I don’t improvise.
After their performance, the feedback that we received from the audience was that they enjoy the
performance. The audience member didn’t understand what was going on because the several
scene in one play. So I explain to them about Cary Churchill methods and why she did it. The
audience said that I had stage presence. I was confidence. However The audience members said
that my voice need to be clear because I was loud and confident however I didn’t understand what I
was saying. I agree with whilst watching my performance I need to work only articulation and my
energy in the performance. People have said that I have shown determination whilst in rehearsals.
I need to work on my articulation with pronouncing with the words because at some parts of play my
voice was not clear. However I was confident so the audience members could hear me. Also whilst
performing my scene with Elena I liked that the scene felt natural it felt that I was that character I
was hurt when she told me that she was pregnant but then I found that not my child it hurt because it
felt real to me. However whilst performing the scene with Mya I felt that we need to work on our
characterisation because we underplaying our character on the stage you saw Mya and Michael not
the tarot reader and the person who trying find themselves. Whilst performing the scene we messed
up with lines however we improvise it so it could flow.
